Chicago cop -Barbara Nevers- has been banned, received 15 months suspend because during 2001 to 2004 this officer demanding coffee for free and pastries baked goods from six different Starbucks -other said five- with mostly in the Lincoln Park neighborhood. She also recommended to get counseling after what she did: flashed her badge and gun.
As we know, some restaurant and coffeehouses have policy to give the police free coffee or some discounted food. They just feel save when the cops stop in and have a drink. Both coffeehouse and cop has the advantage of a time-honored tradition: giving hard-working public servants a little gastro-love. But there’s another unwritten rule though: the police shouldn`t demand the free stuff.
This story just make something more clear. In the previous post there is debate whether they deserve or not to received free coffee.
