Coffee giant Starbucks Coffee Co. has been developed and tested the Clover coffee machine for several months in 10 Seattle stores. They decided to introduce and launch it in San Francisco and Boston area “in the coming months.”
Starbucks early this year has bought Coffee Equipment Co., to produce a new line of small-batch Clover coffees which is customized coffee.
They said in September last year that they will features from Costa Rica, El Salvador, Tanzania and Zambia with Clover brewing system. When they introduced the product in Seattle stores, Starbucks named it the “citrus juiciness” of some Costa Rican coffee, the “herbal overtones” of beans from El Salvador, and the “cherry and currant notes” of Tanzanian coffee.
Starbucks seems to make re-inventing their brand. The decision to develop Clover coffee system has been questioned by some coffee observer. As we know, they just closed 600 stores across USA and this clover coffee is more expensive than others Starbucks product.
Clover will cost $2 to $4 per cup. It`s elite product like wine and chocolate. This coffee allow buyer to control some factors in brewing. Joe Dallacqua, Starbucks vice president of regional operations told that “We are making bold moves toward transforming out business for the long term and at the same time making the tough decisions to ride out this extremely challenging economic environment… The Clover delivers a one-of-a-kind brewed coffee experience that fits with Starbucks’ long history of coffee expertise.”
