Catherine Thomson, a university administrator in Coventry will be joint to support the 18th annual World’s Biggest Coffee Morning 2008 in September 26. She will give her hand to support the event in remembering her father.
Her Father In November 2002, 56-year-old Dr Rodney Thomson, diagnosed with the extremely rare cancer of the jejunum (an inoperable disease).
The family was informed that he will survive for three weeks only, but he survived for next three years.
“It was around this time that Macmillan came into our lives, helping us to understand what was happening, to talk about our feelings, ask questions and be guided by the most extraordinarily knowledgeable and compassionate professionals,” Catherine said.She promised to her Dad that she would continue to involved in every event relating support cancer.
Another cancer patient will joint this action. Sue Sheppard had a rare none cancer which is easy to find in adolescents than adults. And instead of appearing in the legs or arms as normal it cropped up in her ribs, meaning she had two of them, and part of her diaphragm removed.
Now she had strength - not just with medical care, but in getting help with benefits, a holiday, and a wig. Sue is supporter of the annual World`s Biggest Coffee Morining host by MacMillan.
Meanwhile, MacMillan Cancer Support recruiting coffee morning host for the event on Friday, September 26. The Beckett`s Restaurant will support the event.
As a result of local fundraising, including the World’s Biggest Coffee Morning, Redditch people have benefited from the services of four clinical nurse specialists based at the Alex and a dedicated home care team working with the community.
These nurses have been able to vastly improve the lives of many residents affected by cancer. There are now 20 Macmillan nurses and other posts in the county, funded by Macmillan Cancer Support.
Kelly Edwards, Worces-tershire’s Macmillan fundraising manager, said: “The World’s Biggest Coffee Morning is a simple yet really effective way of getting involved in fundraising to help people affected by cancer.
