Producer of Tainted lolly brand, China`s White rabbit candy is back on production line and New White Rabbit candy “NOW SAFE”. The vanilla-flavored lollies awaits tests.
Today the White Rabbit announcement follows a promise made yesterday by China’s state council to overhaul its “chaotic” dairy industry after acknowledging it suffered from a lack of oversight.
White Rabbit’s manufacturer, Guan Sheng Yuan Food, said its new batches would undergo government quality testing as checks continue to be carried out on milk products in China. The company has not revealed its new powdered milk source, the China Daily newspaper said.
The company stopped domestic sales of the candy last month because of suspected melamine contamination. A new supply of safe, high-quality powdered milk is now being used, the company said.
Currently, Guan Sheng Yuan is still waiting test results on samples of its creamy products and has promised to announce the results as soon as they become available.
Guan Sheng Yuan did not say when White Rabbit candy would go on sale again, the newspaper said. The company could not be immediately contacted Tuesday.
The head of China’s quality watchdog said the country was increasing checks on its exports to ensure they conformed to the food safety standards of recipient countries, according to Xinhua, the official press agency.
